We are excited! After a busy year, Laurie's most recent project, The Hope and Survival Memorial Quilt, has come home to roost! It's now hanging in the Laurie Swim Gallery in Lunenburg where it began its journey many years ago.
The work is a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion--an event that brought untold tragedy to Halifax in 1917, killing 2000 people and injuring untold numbers.
Hope and Survival was on display at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic during the commemorative events in December 2017, and has been touring around since.
We are very gratified to see it once again in the gallery where it all started, and where it will rest until its next stop--we'll let you know when and where that is!
Please come and see it for yourself in the meantime--it's a special piece of artwork with a story that's guaranteed to move and enlighten you.
Chippie Kennedy workshop
We're delighted to share with you that award-winning sculptor, Chippie Kennedy, will be conducting a portrait workshop on Saturdays from October 20 until November 10, 2018, from 9 am - 4 pm at the Lunenburg School of the Arts.
We are fortunate to have Chippie's art gracing the Laurie Swim Gallery as well. Chippie began her career as a clothing designer and her fascination with texture and movement led her from cloth to clay in a search to have a deeper understanding of the human form and spirit.
This is a rare opportunity to learn from a master artist! Come and view her art and see why you want to attend this workshop! Click here for a PDF of the poster.
Thanks for visiting! See you soon!
